Ashiq Hamid

Law Clerk

Ashiq joined the Chen Palmer Public Law Team after completing his Bachelor of Laws (Hons) at the University of Waikato.  Ashiq has shown excellent academic achievement during his time at Waikato, receiving a number of awards and prizes, and competing in mooting and negotiation competitions.

Ashiq has also been heavily involved in student life on campus culminating in his position as President of the Waikato University Law Students Association and receipt of the John Houstoun Memorial Scholarship for academic and cultural achievement at University. He is currently a member of Amnesty INternational and adcises law student associations on governance issues. 

 

Prior to studying law at Waikato, Ashiq completed a Bachelor of Science degree at the University of Melbourne, majoring in cell biology and biotechnology.

  • Winner Buddle Findlay Negotiation Championship (2011)

  • John Houston Memorial Scholarship for academic and cultural achievements (2010)

  • Finalist Bell Gully Mooting Competition (2010 & 2011)

  • Represented the University of Waikato Moot Team at the Australian Law Students Conference (2010)

  • David English Prize for Competition Law (2010)

  • Runner-up Twaddle Trophy Law Moot (2009)

  • Represented the University of Waikato at Mahony Cup National Family Law Moot at the University of Otago (2009)

  • Semi-finalist Buddle Findlay Negotiation Competition (2009)

  • Crown Law Office Prize for Public Law (2008)
