Intermediate Associate

Megan has experience in acting for both public and private sector clients in an employment law context.  She also has experience acting for employees.

Megan has worked as a policy analyst for local government and as a solicitor for a core government department. As a solicitor, Megan provided legal advice across a wide range of areas including employment, corporate and public law. She has provided advice at all levels from the frontline to Ministerial.  Megan understands the special environment public sector organisations operate within, and ensures that the advice provided is tailored to suit that environment.

Megan is able to provide clients in both the public and private sector with practical and straight forward guidance on all aspects of employment law, including providing advice and assistance on:

  • Employment agreements - including drafting and interpreting permanent, fixed term, casual, and collective employment agreements.
  • Independent contractor agreements - and advice on when it is appropriate to use such an agreement.
  • Personal grievances - Megan has acted for both employees and employers in raising, resolving, and litigating personal grievance claims. 
  • Disciplinary investigations - Megan has assisted employers to manage an appropriate, fair and lawful disciplinary process, without the investigation becoming protracted or unnecessarily disruptive to the business.  Megan has also acted for employees where allegations of misconduct have been made against them.
  • Restructuring - Megan has experience in assisting employers to design and implement appropriate restructuring processes and proposals, including providing step by step advice on good faith consultation processes.
  • Performance Management - Megan has assisted managers to work through performance management processes, to ensure that performance issues are resolved in a way which minimises risk for the employer.  Megan has also advised employees who have been subject to performance management processes. 
  • Mediation – Megan has attended mediation with both employers and employees.  She has also had experience in negotiating off the record settlements, and drafting settlement agreements to resolve disputes without recourse to litigation.
