Tania joined Chen Palmer having previously worked abroad for 6 years. She spent over 5 years working for a large international law firm, based in London, as an Associate in the Commercial Disputes Group. In particular, her experience includes public international disputes (both acting for and against several States and para-statal companies) and global financial services regulatory work including anti-bribery and anti-corruption cases across a number of jurisdictions.
In 2010, Tania spent 6 months working for Cambodian NGOs including working for a human rights organisation and legal aid NGO assisting victims of human trafficking, abuse and violence and advising on court procedure.
She has particular expertise and experience, both here in New Zealand and internationally, assisting clients to successfully resolve disputes in a range of forums through mediation, negotiation, arbitration and litigation. This includes experience advising and acting for Māori clients in relation to Environment Court proceedings, Treaty issues and claims before the Waitangi Tribunal. Tania's iwi is Ngati Awa.
Tania also has expertise in the employment area, having undertaken complex employment investigations and advising on general employment matters.
Tania is a board member of Wellington Help Foundation, a charity that provides comprehensive services and support to rape and sexual abuse victims.
Originally qualifying in New Zealand, Tania also qualified as a Solicitor in England and Wales. She has an LLB/BA (Political Science) from the University of Waikato.
