2019 – significant changes for the education sector
Hon Chris Hipkins, Minister of Education, recently consulted on the Reform of Vocational Education. In short, the proposal establishes a single ITP entity, the New Zealand Institute of Skills and Technology, which will replace all 16 ITPs and absorb some of the functions currently performed by ITOs. ITPs and PTEs will gain the responsibility for supporting work-based education.
The consultation based on the recommendations contained in the report of the Tomorrow’s Schools Taskforce has also been completed recently. The report proposes significant changes to the secondary school system, and includes the recommendation to disestablish the New Zealand Qualifications Authority.
These significant changes do not take away from the fact that many tertiary education organisations continue to deliver to students, and manage the day-to-day compliance.
The first tertiary education seminar series focuses on providing you with practical tips and insights into export education, programme reviews and TEC audits.
Why should you attend this seminar?
It is important for you to be prepared for the swirl of changes, and strategically position your business before any changes come into place. Change is happening fast – the Minister wants to introduce legislation in the second half of 2019. Implementation is now less than 8 months away.
Structure of this seminar
We will divide the day into different themes and focus on:
– international education in the early morning
– domestic providers in the early afternoon
– a common topic of interest to all providers in the middle
Attendees can choose which sessions they want to join, depending on the focus of your business.
